My second book, Second Chance Romance, made it to the shelves on November 18th! I’m really excited to have it out there. I’ve heard from many authors that book number two is always the toughest. So far I have to say number three is being more problematic. The tentative title is Love and Miss Fortune and it’s not so much that the book isn’t developing, it’s that it’s taking slower to develop. I usually aim for 55-60K words and this one is going to easily hit 65K.
I’ve been staying busy the past month. Between the “real” job (technical writing and consulting) and the side job (freelance editor and ghostwriting), I’ve been doing the great NaNoWriMo project. It started off fairly well then those pesky jobs sort of pulled my attention but so far this month I’ve written 15-20K “new” words. That’s a MIRACLE for me! I’ve been doing a little dance in the office.
Speaking of the office….TADA! I have a new office. I finally got the new desk out of the boxes and put it together. Frankly, I was a little amazed it all fit in those boxes after seeing it in the store. And there’s nothing like two 80-page instruction manuals to make your heart go flippity flop. All the boxes are officially out of the house and I am hanging pictures on the wall this weekend. It’s officially home.
I know this Thanksgiving will not be the same for many of you. We are forgoing our traditional 40+ person holiday for immediate family only (8). It’s disappointing, to say the least, but it’s the least we can do to try and get a handle on this pandemic and get our lives back to normal ASAP.
To celebrate the start of the holiday season and the release of Book 2, I’m giving away book 1 to new subscribers of my newsletter. Pop on over to www.authormaggiepreston.com and sign up and on Black Friday I’ll send out a link for the book. If you’re like me and one to avoid the madness of shopping and would just rather sit back with a good book, I hope you’ll try out Sex and Insensibility.
Until next time, friends, be safe, be grateful, and be kind!
