“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at the typewriter and bleed.” ~~Ernest Hemingway.

I always wonder if the truly great writers struggle to put words on paper, or if it’s just such a natural part of them that the stories just flow like water from the faucet. Maybe they’ve fine tuned their talent to such a degree that they can turn it on and off like the faucet. I’m still squeezing blood from the turnip most days.

I’d gotten on a roll then let life get in the way. Writing took a back burner to editing but I rationalized I was still writing. Now that the editing is done, I’m trying to kick off that roll again. Go back and find the blog post where I call myself the self-sabotage queen. My crown is shiny tonight.

So I’m going back to what I did that worked. I have my candles. I have my music. I have the blank page. I’m at 65K on the new book. After NaNoWriMo I want to be at 85K. Like the adage about publicity (there is no bad PR) I’m going to believe there are no bad words. It can all come out in the editing if it needs to. I just need to get the words on paper.

What do you do when stuck on a scene? Do you skip it? Push through? I’m stubborn (no laughing, those that know me). I want to push through but I might try and skip this one, move on to a scene that is brighter in my writer’s mind. I’ll let you know how it works.
